Angie Fox – The Accidental Demon Slayer

The Accidental Demon SlayerAngie Fox – The Accidental Demon Slayer is the first book in her Demon Slayer series.

I enjoyed this book. It’s both heavy and light. “Lizzy” Elizabeth Gertrude Brown adds the lightness with her Country Club’esk attitude and attire. For her everything must be so-so: she even has to have a typed grocery list she’s so rigid. On her thirtieth birthday she gets thrust into her new life and not by choice. The fates have made plans for her or was it someone else who choose to put her in this life? Either way she has become The Demon Slayer and she needs to save us all from annihilation by destroying the fifth level demon Vlad. The heaviness is of course the demons set on killing Lizzy but also the host of supporting characters that keep the story moving; Witches, Vampires and Griffins.

Lizzy’s estranged grandma appears just in time to help her through her transition from normal girl to accidental demon slayer and protect her from the slue of demon assassins, hired trolls, various fairies and imps sent to kill her. Even her dog is plagued by a Phantom Menace, Dimitri, who turns out to be an accidental good guy and Lizzy’s guardian.

I am torn between liking Dimitri and Lizzy. The more I learn about them the more I liked him and then I hated him. Finally I went right back to him being my favorite character at the end. Lizzy goes through a metamorphoses as the book progresses and I doubt chapter one Lizzy would recognize chapter twenty-four Lizzy. I can’t wait to read other books in this series if they are anything like The Accidental Demon Slayer.
